LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The leader of an armed militia group that had arrested migrants along the US-Mexico border was brutalized in prison and hospitalized Monday night awaiting trial, according to his lawyer.
Larry Hopkins, 69, arrested Saturday in New Mexico under the guise of federal arms, was transferred out of Las Cruces County jail after being injured, the county sheriff's office said on Wednesday Dona Ana in a statement, according to Reuters. .
