The Little Mermaid reboot: Halle Bailey shares her first photo as Ariel

Bailey sings in the Chloe x Halle duo with her older sister Chloe Bailey, and also stars in the sitcom Grown-ish, a spin-off from ABC Black-ish.

The Little Mermaid Live-Action is a Disney adaptation of the studio’s 1989 animated film. Jonah Hauer-King plays Ariel’s lover Prince Eric, with Melissa McCarthy as the sea witch Ursula, who gives Ariel legs in exchange for her voice. Javier Bardem plays King Triton; Daveed Diggs sings Sebastian Crab; Jacob Tremblay is Flet the nervous fish; and Awkwafina plays Scuttle the seagull who helps Ariel misidentify her things, whozits and whatzits.

The film will feature songs from the original animated film by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, in addition to new songs by Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda. It doesn’t have a release date yet.
