The macOS Catalina Preview application allows you to sign documents on Mac with iPhone or iPad

In macOS Catalina, the Preview application includes a new feature that makes it easy to sign PDFs and other documents using an iPhone or iPad running the iOS 13 / iPadOS operating system.

Rather than using the Trackpad to create a signature or scan a piece of paper, you can connect to your iPhone or iPad sign there using either a finger or an apple pencil.

In the Preview application, under Tools> Annotate> Signature> Manage Signatures> Create Signatures, a new option allows you to choose to create a signature with an iOS device. Clicking this option allows you to select an iPhone or iPad use.

Devices running iOS 12 will appear in this list, but creating a signature only works on a device that is running. iOS 13. Selection of an iPhone or iPad with iOS 13 A simple signature interface appears on the device in question, where you can sign with your finger on the iPhone or a finger or Apple Pencil sure iPad.

Once you have signed, press the Done button. Your signature is instantly available in the Preview application as an option to insert into your documents.

We needed to unlock the devices to bring up the signature interface, but it may be a bug that will be handled in a later beta release.

You can already sign PDFs directly on the iPhone or iPad Using markup features, but the new Preview option is a useful and simplified way to get a signature on a document if you start the process with a Mac.
