The last episode of Star Wars: The Mandalorian on Disney + was filled with a ton of references, Easter Eggs, and characters from many fan-favorite shows who showed up to hang out with Din Djarin and Baby Yoda. And while fans were excited about Katee Sackhoff’s live debut as The clone wars character Bo-Katan Kryze (and Ahsoka Tano, no less!), there was also a little-known cameo made by STar wars: Battlefront II star Janina Gavankar. No, the Morning show and Real blood The actress wasn’t playing her Inferno Squad leader Iden Versio, but rather a very surprising alien with a strange talent.
IGN reported this week that Gavankar worked as a second puppeteer on the nostrils of the Mon Calamari featured in the episode. Gavankar shared the article on Twitter, adding, “Here is my delicious story @themandalorian. TDLR: @FrankIppolito asked me to make puppeteer nostrils.” You can check out the tweet below:

“There’s a Mon Calamari who puts their hands on their hips. It’s Frank Ippolito that’s inside that platform. He made this helmet and it takes two puppeteers to animate it,” said Gavankar. IGN. “And they needed a second puppeteer to take care of this character’s nostrils. And [Ippolito] called me and he said: “Do you want to come puppeteer the nostrils of this Mon Calamari?” And I said ‘damn yes’. “
Gavankar wasn’t the only Easter egg in the show’s final episode. “Chapter 11” was directed by Bryce Dallas Howard who paid tribute to his father’s film Apollo 13. You can check out a comparison of his directing and Ron Howard here.
Season two of The Mandalorian has some exciting directors on the list. In addition to Howard, returning directors include Rick Famuyiwa and Dave Filoni. Newbies on the show include Robert Rodriguez (Sin city) and Peyton Reed (The ant Man), who directed last week’s episode. We’re also excited about next week’s episode, which was directed by Carl Weathers, who plays Greef Karga on the show. When asked to share what interests him most about season two, Weathers said AND Canada, “Well, sure, the episode I did! [Laughs] The episode that I did, in our program, was episode 4. “
