The Mandalorian is the perfect Fortnite character

Anyone who purchases the Battle Pass for the new season of Fortnite gets a nice initial bonus: a playable version of none other than the Mandalorian itself. It unlocks right away and in many ways it is in keeping with the game’s recent strategy of focusing on branded ties. Recent characters have included everyone from Wolverine to Travis Scott, Harley Quinn, and Kathleen “Loserfruit” Belsten. But Mando also differs from these others in a key way – he’s pretty much the perfect character for the Battle Royale game.

At this point, it’s not a new idea to point out that The Mandalorian is often structured like a video game. It is the story of a bounty hunter setting out on a series of recovery quests; whenever he asks for help he is instructed to go somewhere else to collect an item or kill a monster. It is basically an armored version of the Witcher. And often he will be rewarded for his efforts with new equipment, either in the form of stronger armor or perhaps a sophisticated new spear.

Turns out it’s a perfect fit for Fortnitethe new season focused on bounty hunters. In the game’s ever-evolving fiction, the island is now overrun by the greatest hunters of various realities, all doing … something to stop the pull of a time-consuming event resulting from an attack by the supervillain Marvel Galactus . It’s confusing, but it works well with Fortnitethe quest structure, where you are constantly loaded with new things in order to unlock more equipment. There are even new bounties, where you can talk to NPCs or grab jobs on a bulletin board, asking you to kill a specific player.

At first, Mando looks a bit rough. He’s not the brilliant, brilliant hunter that he is in season 2 of the show. To get it to this point, you need to complete quests and slowly unlock new pieces of Beskar armor. That is going to take time. There are nine pieces to unlock, and one only seems to be available when you reach level 100. The same goes for Mando’s most important accessory: Grogu, better known as The Child or Baby Yoda. , is available once you have reached the maximum of this season’s Battle Pass. .

It’s kinda annoying having to wait so long to watch Grogu sip bone broth while I’m in the middle of a shootout. But I love that this version of the Mandalorian is so true to the character – he has a lot of cool gear, but it takes a lot of effort to get it.
