The largest Apple store in Japan will open on September 7th. A new design, new Today at Apple sessions and two floors of products and accessories await customers just beyond Tokyo Station. During the night, Apple discovered the windows of the store and shared new details as well as the inspiration behind Apple Marunouchi.

Apple's first international store opened in the Ginza shopping district in Tokyo in 2003. Apple Marunouchi will carry the torch by invigorating the center of Tokyo as a place of modern Apple creativity. The doors of the store open on the Today at Apple forum and the video wall fills a multi-level atrium. A natural curtain of bamboo plants rooted in custom rounded flower boxes envelops both sides of the store overlooking the street, looking through the second floor.
The half-timbered ceilings and autonomous sculptural staircase make their debut in Japan at Apple Marunouchi. Apple's latest business model arrived in the country last spring in Shinjuku, then expanded to Kyoto and Shibuya. For Marunouchi, the features of the three previous stores combine with new colors to create a style not only unique to Tokyo, but at any Apple Store. A new window system created from specially molded aluminum allows rounded corners in three dimensions.
Today at Apple will launch Apple Marunouchi with a series called Tokyo Creative Guild. A dozen sessions hosted by local artists until the end of September will cover topics such as pop art, costume making and even the art of running. Online, Apple has created a special story on the App Store, an Apple Music playlist and an Apple Books collection to celebrate the new store.

The opening of Apple Marunouchi marks an important moment in the long relationship between Apple and Japan. Marunouchi has incredible energy and our teams look forward to welcoming customers to our largest store in Japan for the first time Saturday.
Apple Marunouchi is the 508th Apple Store in the world and the 9th in Japan. More than 130 members of the team speaking 15 languages at a time will work on the site. More than 80 million customers have visited Apple stores across the country since 2003.
Nearby, major renovations at Apple Omotesando will be completed soon. Apple also confirmed that his store Fukuoka Tenjin is being rebuilt and will just reopen down the street from its current location. Another new store in Japan is expected to open before the end of the year.
