Gym, tanning, laundry, dancing. “Jersey Shore” star Vinny Guadagnino is the next celebrity to be revealed on Fox’s “The Masked Dancer.”

Guadagnino was revealed to be the person in the hammerhead shark costume on Wednesday’s edition of the hit series. He was unmasked after dancing to Santa Esmeralda’s version of “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood”.

“I’m neither a singer nor a dancer, but it’s probably a bit more in my wheelhouse,” Guadagnino said Variety. “So I was like, I’m a little scared but I think I can do this job, let’s try it. I didn’t even really know I was going to make it the first week, so I ended up falling in love and getting really competitive with it. It was a great experience.

Guadagnino said his dance experience came down to breakdancing at parties as a child.

“So I had a little bit of that, but learning choreography is a whole different sport in itself,” he said. “Getting right into that is definitely something hard to do, but it’s in my wheelhouse, I love challenges and I love learning something and stimulating my brain to learn and how I get obsessed. I rehearsed in my room every night like this until I took it down because I didn’t want to do it halfway.

Then add the costume to it, and Guadagnino had a heavy one: “I had literally like a 40 pound muscle suit and you can’t even see out of the mask, you can’t do anything,” he said. declared. “You lose all your senses, you can barely breathe. It would be hard enough to learn the choreography on your own.

Guadagnino said he was presented with the hammerhead costume and immediately thought it was appropriate. “Obviously being a part of ‘Jersey Shore’ I’m around those who are like muscle guys like some of my cast members. But I’m not that guy, I’m more like the low-key skinny guy, so I’m pretty close to that character without actually being the character.

Among the panelists, Ken Jeong and Brian Austin Green got closer, but with the bad teammates of “Jersey Shore”. Jeong thought it was Pauly D, while Green guessed Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino. Paula Abdul thought it was David Dobrik and Ashley Tisdale thought it was Kevin Hart. Guest panelist Whitney Cummings joined Jeong in picking Pauly D. New clues to the episode included New Jersey and sun lotion.

“I was pretty flattered when I heard names like Zac Efron. Eminem, Joe Rogan, ”Guadagnino said of previous guesses. “I’m fine, like they’re pretty cool guys. So I was happy with that. I think Paula guessed me once, but I’m glad no one really guessed it, I’d rather it was a big reveal.

As for the sequel, Guadagnino said he hopes “people just see this and see that I can do different things, I’m more than a reality TV star, always up for a challenge and entertaining them. people. Hope to continue to be a part of maybe this show somehow in the future or other shows like this. I love to entertain and just want to keep doing it.

Guadagnino had previously danced on “Everybody” by Backstreet Boys and “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd. Previous panelist guesses have included Carrot Top, Joe Jonas, Zac Efron, Ryan Seacrest, Joe Rogan and Guadagnino’s “Jersey Shore” co-star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino.

“The Masked Dancer” includes the “Word Up” feature, in which each candidate says a word about their identity. Guadagnino’s first “Word Up” was “Dramatic” and the second “Word Up” was “Heartbreaker”.

This season’s costumes include Zebra, Tulip, Sloth, Exotic Bird, Cotton Candy, Cricket, Disco Ball, Moth, Ice Cube, and Hammer. Previously unmasked were Brian McKnight as cricketer, Elizabeth Smart as moth, Bill Nye, the scientist as Ice Cube and Ice-T as disco ball.
