The sloth is one of the strongest contenders still in the race to win season 1 of “The Masked Dancer”. He is one of the last six to take the stage in the January 27 episode. The Sloth secured their place with a dazzling performance of ‘Up Where We Belong’ by Joe cocker and Jennifer warnes January 13. He is one of the big favorites of the four judges (Paula Abdul |, Brian Austin Green, Ken jeong, Ashley tisdale).
We’ve been busy trying to figure out who’s hiding in the sloth costume. To do this, we watched her two performances (the other was on episode 2 of “What I Like About You” from Romantics). And we reviewed his clue videos. Read on for all the spoilers of “The Masked Dancer,” including our best guess at the sloth’s real name.
We are sure the Sloth is Maksim Chmerkovskiy who has been a professional partner of “Dancing With the Stars” for 17 seasons.

Chmerkovskiy reached the ‘DWTS’ final five times, and ultimately won Season 18 (this number was highlighted on a marker in the Clues video) when he teamed up with an Olympic dancer. Meryl davis (whose initials were seen in a clue video). Their trophy was a mirror ball, which was shown in two parts – mirror and ball – in the second clue video. The show’s initials were also referenced with a photo from the Dentist Whitening Tooth System.
Collectively, the contestants for “The Masked Dancer” have been to Broadway three times; Maksim starred in “Burn the Floor” in 2009 and “Forever Tango” in 2013. This old show was referenced with the image of the burning room in the clues video. (We believe the exotic bird explains the third appearance.)

The Sloth readily admits “a very special love for The Nutcracker,” which is often played over Christmas. When Maksim married another “DWTS” pro, Murgatroyd Map, in 2017, Tchaikovsky’s music for this beloved ballet sounded during the ceremony. In the second clue video, we saw the Sloth propose to one of the other dancers.

Four of Maksim’s other partners on “Dancing with the Stars” were mentioned in the two clues video: GLEEm toothpaste for “Glee” star Heather Morris (season 24); “DR” for the actress Denise richards (season 8); an integrated bug in orange for the model Amber Pink (season 23); and a red Solo cup with the number “13” for the football player Hope Solo (season 13).
Prior to joining “DWTS” in Season 2, Chmerkovskiy competed professionally in the International Latin category and won 10 titles; as a group, the contestants of “The Masked Dancer” can boast 11 world titles.
This charismatic star was born in Ukraine, who just happens to have a blue and yellow flag (we saw those colors in the clues video.)

Chmerkovskiy has been dancing since the age of four. However, his dreams of dancing professionally were almost shattered when he was 13 and broke his right leg while skiing; the sloth said he had a childhood accident which was a challenge to overcome.
The Sloth is certainly one of the sportiest of the 10 contestants in season 1 of “The Masked Dancer”. His costume consists of training gear and he was able to jump and leap onto the stage.
