The Max Julia Child HBO Series with Sarah Lancashire

HBO Max, the beef Wellington of streaming services, today announced that Happy valley Star Sarah Lancashire will play celebrity chef and author Julia Child in an eight-part series about her life. Titled Julia, the show will focus on the middle-aged years of the child as Mastering the art of French cuisine caused a sensation in the culinary world, and will address the “The Emergence of Public Television as a New Social Institution, the Feminism and the Women’s Movement, the Nature of Celebrity, and the Cultural Growth of America.” In addition to Lancashire, David Hyde Pierce will play Child’s beloved husband Paul Cushing Child with another Frasier– Universe star Bebe Neuwirth also appears in an undisclosed role. Interestingly, this project has been bubbling over at HBO Max for over a year, with Joan Cusack initially chosen as Child. But whatever. We don’t expect there to be a squeaky side plot from Amy Adams blogging on Burgundy.
