An Arizona mayor said on Tuesday an emergency situation in the city that he represents due to the tension caused by the influx of migrants.
Yuma Mayor Douglas Nicholls explained on Facebook that he had "proclaimed a local emergency" in the city "due to the release of the migrant family that was overwhelming the local accommodation system".
He then asked the federal government to intervene and provide help.

"I call on the federal government to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Yuma, as our NGOs are in overcapacity and can not continue to provide this assistance," the post said.
In a video, Nicholls set out his reasoning behind the statement, saying he ultimately felt it was best for Yuma and the incoming migrants.

"So it is with a heavy heart that I declare that we are at this stage, but it is something we must do to ensure that our community is maintained and that the human rights of all migrants are also preserved. and that we have a way forward that respects both, "he said.

The city of Yuma, Arizona., Also tweeted about the proclamation, citing Nicholls, claiming that the released migrants were arriving in the area faster than they were leaving.
The move comes after President Trump declared a national emergency at the country's southern border earlier this year.
