The Mercedes-Benz SLC 2020 will not arrive beyond this generation. To celebrate her 23 years, we find her with her roots painted in yellow and get a special final edition.

Endangered sports car market kills Mercedes-Benz SLC: report

Mercedes confirmed to Jalopnik today that there was no direct successor to the currently planned R172 SLC class. Sad.

It is not surprising that the SLC is dying. Its biggest brother, the SL, is probably replaced by a new generation AMG GT. So there is already a warmer roadster in the house. On top of that, you can still get a C-Class Cabriolet.

Maybe the endangered sports car market has killed the SLC. Maybe Mercedes had just too many convertible sports cars. Probably all the above.

Anyway, we have at least another model year with the SLC. To celebrate, the SLC 2020 will be available in final version on the SLC 300 and AMG SLC43.

The SLC 300 Final Edition is based on the AMG Line trim and includes AMG style bumpers, a lowered suspension adjuster, a two-tone leather interior, heated seatbacks, five-spoke wheels, and 18 inches and more powerful brakes.

Unfortunately, the SLC 300 Final Edition takes the color selenite gray. This special painting, called "Sun Yellow", is a nod to the "Yellowstone" color of the original 1996 SLK roadster, but only from the AMG SLC43. As yellow cars are good, that's fine.

Remember these? It always looked good in yellow

The AMG SLC43 Final Edition features a similar two-tone leather interior with heated seats and seats for heated seats, an AMG performance steering wheel, AMG full body kit and AMG black matte 18-inch wheels.

It's a pity that the car does not stay in the area, especially considering that BMW gives another chance to the Z4. I would not be surprised if Mercedes panics over the next two years and finds ways to bring back the SL baby in one form or another.

Even if she never comes back, at least we will have some more yellow cars on the road.
