South Korea’s rating table lists SNK and Capcom crossover

An interesting gaming note seems to have popped up on the South Korean Rating Board (GRAC) which may indicate that a classic crossover is heading for the Nintendo Switch.

A rating for “Ultimate Fighters SNK VS. CAPCOM (NS)” was spotted on the game’s Rating and Registration Committee website and appears to have been registered earlier this month. As NintendoLife reports, the title appears to be SNK vs Capcom: The Millennium Game and it looks like it’s heading towards Nintendo’s console / handheld hybrid.

SNK vs Capcom: The Match of the Millennium was released in late 1999 on the NeoGeo Pocket Color portable system. Players could choose from 26 different fighters, with representatives from both Capcom’s IPs and, of course, SNK being included.

This crossover allowed for 1v1 solo fights, two-person beacon, or three-character teams (similar to King of Fighters). The visuals have gone for a more chibi style, with characters like Ryu, Chun-Li, and Terry resembling sprites found in other NeoGeo Pocket Color titles.

The GRAC note specifies that this game is a “Nintendo Switch fighting game with SNK and CAPCOM characters” (according to Google Translate). SNK vs Capcom is here bragging about an “Everyone 12 and up” rating, with “minor violent expression” cited as the reason for its rating.

With this list appearing on the South Korean league table, it is likely that the title will see a release on the platform in this region soon. While there is no confirmation that SNK vs Capcom on Switch will be released in North America, this activity serves as an indicator that a possible launch in the United States could occur.

Several NeoGeo Pocket Color games have found their way onto the Nintendo Switch lately because in April 2020 we saw SNK Gals’ Fighters release to the console as part of the NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection library. In August 2020, The King of Fighters R-2 and Samurai Shodown! 2 have been added to said library, each title being available digitally for US $ 7.99.

Considering the fact that several handheld games have seen a release on Nintendo Switch in the past year, it’s certainly plausible that SNK vs Capcom: The Millennium Game will follow suit as NeoGeo’s next title. Pocket Color Selection.

SNK actively revealed content here in 2021 as King of Fighters 15 was officially unveiled to the world and has seen consistent trailers every week for the past three weeks or so. It’s possible that an official announcement from SNK vs. Capcom: The Millennium Game will run alongside one of the upcoming showcases.
