The Miz says he has no plans to be a WWE Transition Champion

New WWE Champion The Miz spoke to Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso recently and said he doesn’t plan to be a transition champion.

“I don’t intend to be a transitional champion,” Miz said. “This idea only fuels my fire, and hearing it is nothing new.

“It reminds me of when I cashed the Money in the Bank contract and won the belt in 2010. People thought I was going to lose, but I didn’t. Instead, I won the WWE Championship. When I won I heard that I was going to be a transition champion, but I went to the main event WrestleMania and won, as a villain, in the main event, which never happens. Ten years later, I heard the same thing: I would never win the title. So this is another opportunity for me to prove people wrong, which I intend to do. “

Miz recalled how much WWE CEO Vince McMahon trusted him when no one else had before WrestleMania 27 Main Event against John Cena, and the storyline with The Rock. He spoke about his growth over the past 5 years and thanked his wife Maryse for helping him.

“Vince trusted me when no one else did,” Miz said. “He trusted me to take on John Cena at WrestleMania 27 and to be in this affair with The Rock, who had just returned to WWE. I got lost in this story. They had become men by then, and I still needed to do so. Working live with Cena and Randy Orton taught me what it takes to be a main event. And I never stopped listening or learning.

“Over the past five years I have found new equipment. I remember facing off against AJ Styles when he first came to WWE, and his style was so different from anything I was used to. It was then that I knew I needed to elevate my work. And my wife also deserves a lot of credit. By working with her she gave me a confidence that took me to a new level.

Miz has also said he’s ready to be the face of WWE with this title reign.

“It’s the most coveted award in all of WWE, and it’s mine,” Miz said. “I’m ready to run Monday Night Raw, and any pay-per-view or main event. I will be the face of this company and carry the title with the prestige and honor it deserves.
