The Morning After: ‘Flight Simulator’ update adds high-res US landmarks

While many of us cut back on our trips across the United States, anyone who plays Microsoft Flight Simulator should enjoy a better view. The latest update to the game added high-resolution versions of many American landmarks, including the White House, Statue of Liberty, and the Hoover Dam.

Oddly, for a game that loves unexpected towering monoliths, the real-world structure recently discovered in Utah failed to make the cut (this time around). If you don’t have a PC ready to run the game or the time to virtually pilot yourself across the country, there’s a 4K trailer showing off some of the new sites.

If you needed proof of the company’s position, Jim Ryan, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), confirmed in an interview with Russian Tass that the PlayStation 5 is sold out, despite his best efforts to have enough stock. He believes the supply shortage would have occurred even without COVID-19.

And Ryan said Sony is taking a wait-and-see stance on recent Microsoft studio purchases, which include Bethesda and identification software. However, it appears the company is considering taking action in response to Microsoft’s Game Pass. “There is actually some news coming up, but not today,” he told Tass.

Is it worth it? It depends. A Battle Pass currently costs 950 V-Bucks – just under $ 7.99. A Fortnite Crew membership makes sense, when a Battle Pass is released, as you also get a bonus of 1,000 V-Bucks to spend in the store (which is worth an additional $ 7.99), in addition to the exclusive Crew cosmetics. This monthly service should allow real money to flow in a more predictable way for Epic, directly targeting Fortnite faithful.
