The Morning After: We review the new GoPro Hero 10

It’s been roughly a decade since GoPro established itself as the name for small, portable, rugged action cameras. Since then, the company has continued to refine its flagship product, while defending itself against cheaper competitors. Our James Trew reviewed the new GoPro Hero 10 Black, which can shoot 5.3K footage and take 23-megapixel photos from inside that notoriously rugged body.

We won’t spoil the bones of its review, but suffice it to say that improvements in shooting hardware and technology are certainly welcome. Unfortunately, you might see an impact on battery life, but GoPro says customers aren’t trying to shoot motion pictures on a single charge. If there’s one thing James really wasn’t a fan of, it was the price, which is $ 50 more than the last model, even if you subscribe to GoPro’s unlimited cloud backup service.

But beware of the dangers of the gamer tax

IKEA and ASUS ‘Republic of Gamers division teamed up last year to create more gamer-friendly furniture and amenities. Now the product of this union is coming to the United States and Europe after making its debut in Asia. The range includes a carved wooden hand to hold your headphones (or, with the push of a button, a VR headset), gaming chairs, storage, and even a motorized sit-stand desk. Keep in mind, however, that some of the products are just regular IKEA doodads painted black, with $ 3 added to the price.

The company leans heavily on its “same stock” status.

AMC CEO Adam Aron has announced that the movie chain will soon be accepting more than Bitcoin in its cash registers. In a tweet, Aron said that by the end of the year, AMC will also accept Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash for ticket purchases and at concession stands. The move is likely to strengthen the company’s relationship with the army of memes stock traders who have helped the beleaguered company through the worst of the pandemic.

500 stores will offer repairs to Protection subscribers.

T-Mobile has announced that it will begin offering in-store repairs to 500 of its stores on November 1. Customers who pay for the Monthly Protection plan can have their broken smartphone repaired the same day. The company says “highly trained” Assurant technicians will perform the work using parts approved by the manufacturer. It’s a good start, especially since getting your phone repaired can be an unbearable chore. Hopefully initiatives like this, coupled with decent right to redress legislation, will make things less difficult in the future.

The company has 150,000 reservations for the electric truck.

Ford will invest an additional $ 250 million to increase the production capacity of its F150 Lightning electric truck. The vehicle, which appears to be incredibly popular, currently has around 150,000 reservations awaiting fulfillment. This money will continue to recruit more workers to both produce the car and the components needed to run it, like transmissions and batteries. Sadly, it won’t be until 2022 that Ford will see the benefits of this investment, but it needs to do something to ensure it doesn’t lose sales to its electric pickup rivals.

Don’t shoot the messenger, EV fans, but Lucid says his Air EV has an EPA range of 520 miles on one charge. That’s about 100 miles more than you would expect from a fully equipped Tesla Model S LRP with the 100 kWh battery. CEO Peter Rawlinson was optimistic, saying his battery management and transmission technology is extremely efficient. Then again, it’s easy to make promises: the real proof will be when we can try this car for ourselves.
