When Huawei unveiled the foldable Mate X phone at the MWC 2019 earlier this year, it became clear that the Chinese company had a much better design than Samsung, which had announced the Galaxy Fold a few days earlier. The stunning looks of the Mate X stole the show in Barcelona this year, making us forget all the other flagship projects launched during the same mobile event.

From the beginning, we knew that the phone would be expensive because Huawei revealed that the price of Mate X was € 2,299 ($ 2,585). What Huawei did not offer at the event is a real launch date. A new report now says the phone will be available in stores in June.

The Mate X has been listed on the official online store of the company, GizmoChina says, sporting a launch date of June 2019. The price for China is not listed, but the phone should be just as expensive when it finally arrives in the stores.

As a reminder, the phone contains an 8-inch screen that folds outward to create two relatively large secondary screens, measuring 6.6 inches and 6.38 inches. The Kirin 980 processor powers the phone, which is the same chip as other Huawei's flagship products this year, and the Mate X has 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The phone also supports Huawei's proprietary NM storage cards, as well as 5G connectivity.

As for the camera's specifications, the phone contains a three-lens configuration that works both as a main camera and as a stand-alone camera. We are looking for 40 megapixel, 16 megapixel and 8 megapixel lenses. If it sounds familiar to you, it's because the P30 has a similar camera configuration. Remember that the P30's camera is slightly inferior to the P30 Pro's impressive four-goal shooter.

Finally, the handset contains a 4,500 mAh battery, consisting of two separate parts, as well as a 44W fast charge. Is all this worth more than $ 2,500? It's up to you to decide in June, assuming that the Mate X is actually launched in your market.
