Olympus fell was a forgettable Gerard Butler action movie vehicle, best known for being the worst of the two "Die hard at the White House "films released in 2013. (Here at the Foreign, at least, we I did not forget White house down.)

London fell "The war on terror" was superficial. It was marked by tasteless xenophobia and stupid jingoism. But Angel fell, the third film of the inelegant name ______ Fell series, draws an unexpected turn: it's actually pretty good!

Star and co-producer Butler would have wanted to end the franchise in the spirit of 2017 Logan, and damn it, he did not get close enough.

Honestly, part of the reason Angel fell works so well because it follows two mediocre entries in a mediocre action franchise. Here, the secret service surgeon, Mike Banning (Butler), begins to feel the effects of his previous adventures: he has the spine compressed, a kind of chronic post-concussion syndrome and a discrete opioid habit that's noticeable. he did not tell his wife.

And even though he's still fully able to neutralize a dozen elite commandos at a time, these cracks in his hero's armor of action contribute to creating a real sense of tension in claustrophobic combat and skillfully choreographed the film.

Screenwriter / director Ric Roman Waugh, who has made a career in street-level crime thriller, defines action primarily in rural Pennsylvanian and Virginia, transforming what should be a familiar landscape into a no-man-land abandoned scrub woody faded.

The previous generics, nasty non-white terrorists, have also disappeared, replaced by aggrieved middle-class military contractors wielding tactical equipment and concealed automatic rifles. For a franchise that has always been felt for at least one irrelevant decade, Angel fell ends up being a thriller of intense action, surprisingly current.
