No details of the cause of death were given at the Garrard County District Court hearing. In addition, there was no evidence of when Spurlock was killed and how long his body was in the 19-inch grave where he was discovered last week.

On the basis of the evidence presented at the hearing, the judge referred the case to a grand jury, which is expected to hear the case on Wednesday for a possible indictment.

Purdy said the property on which the remains were found belonged to Sparks' parents.

Sparks was accused of misusing a corpse and tampering with material evidence. He was not accused of killing Spurlock, but the police called him "main suspect," according to WLEX.
A plea of not guilty was filed on behalf of Sparks on Thursday afternoon, WLEX said.

She went out and disappeared

On January 4th, Spurlock went to a Lexington bar with friends and was seen leaving with three men.

She faced her mother after a party and then disappeared. His remains were found 6 months later

She contacted her mother and told her that she would be home in the next few hours, but that she never went back there, said her family in a message on Facebook.

Purdy said the authorities were waiting for the results of the autopsy for a cause of death.

Sabrina Speratos, one of Spurlock's best friends, told CNN that she was certain that the young woman did not know the three men she had gone with.

The two men had known each other since high school and talked to each other every day, said Speratos.

"Life before January was only complete, we were united and we had our families, and since then, part of me has disappeared," Speratos told CNN.

Purdy was not charged with the other two men.
