It's not uncommon for us to discover new products through FCC filings – virtually anything that wirelessly communicates needs the Commission's approval before it goes on sale to the public. United States. Usually, deposits give us an idea of what the product can be. Not this time, though: the FCC has approved a new Google product. All we know is that it only communicates via Bluetooth.

This listing is for a Google device with product code G022A. It's terribly similar to the Pixel 3 – G020A product code. However, this new device could not be a phone, because the RF exposure assessment report submitted to the Commission only lists Bluetooth connectivity. A phone would also include LTE and Wi-Fi technologies. This is also not the next Google Stadia controller or a new smartwatch, as both would also list Wi-Fi. We can only speculate at this point but it is possible that the device in question is a new pair of Google brand headphones, or maybe a remote for a TV device.

Whatever the new gadget, we will probably see it during (or at least about) the Google hardware event this fall. The application lists the device confidentially until November 17th.
