The Pixelbook was a cult hit
GOOGLE MAY STILL bring us another Pixelbook, after a video leak of a product with the codename with a familiar nickname – "Atlas".
Despite the news that Google was downsizing its Pixel hardware team, the video shows the product, which has long been a code name associated with the Made By Google line.
This means either that he decided to go ahead, or that he was forwarded to an unidentified OEM to continue.
If it was "made by Google", it would be subject to significant design language changes, including a 16: 9 display, while Google tends to favor the 3: 2 ratio, dated but alluring.
There is a revealing "product name" tag where the "G" logo would usually be, which matches previous pixel leaks, so everything is a bit confusing.
The future of Pixelbooks is changing rapidly since the publication of the first. Last year, there was no successor, but rather the "Slate". – 2-in-1 convertible car
The other problem that could be a bit confusing is our old friend "Fuschia", the operating system that Google has never really explained the object, but that could be a future (pun, see) that will succeed to Android and Chrome OS all the form factors.
It is simply possible that a Pixelbook 2 does not bear that name, but that it is rather a Fuschia device bearing a different brand.
Although Google-produced devices have received strong criticism, the fact that they use Chrome OS (flanked by Android and, more recently, Linux), represents a big fit for users who have spent years on Windows or macOS, especially considering the price tag for the Pixelbook range.
Alternatively, of course, the videos could be well built fake and this is a random device running Chromium OS (the open source version) for increased authenticity. μ
