The National shared another song and video from their planned new album I am easy to find (due 5/17 via 4AD). The song, "Hairpin Turns," presents Gail Ann Dorsey and Lisa Hanniganand the video was directed by Mike Mills, who also directed the short film accompanying the new album. The video combines performances of The National and guest singers Gail Ann Dorsey, Pauline Lassus (Mina Tindle) and Kate Stables (This Is the Kit) to an interpretive dance by Sharon Eyal. "The video is a very simple portrait of the band (and friends who contributed to the composition) and the song itself: you see all the instruments that make up the song in isolation, you can even hear them record live on the version of the album. a bit like showing you the tracks that make up the song, "said Mills Look / Listen below.
The group has also added more movie screenings in other cities around the world. Previously announced screening in New York takes place May 7th at BAM and also includes a projection of Taken for strangers (tickets). All dates / cities for the screenings are listed on the poster below.
The National also added an intimate show to New York taking place at IHeartRadio Theater (5/17) the day of the release of the album. Host Harms will host a Q & A with the group on the show. This will be broadcast live on iHeartRadio's YouTube channel on May 17th at 7pm.
As mentioned, the group tour includes two nights at Brooklyn's Prospect Park with Courtney Barnett: June 12 (exhausted) and June 13 (tickets). These are two paid benefit shows for the Celebrate Brooklyn BRIC! Festival, which has announced its range of free shows today.
The National recently debuted in the new album at some special shows.
