The NCAA bid for 2019: the mad teams of March this year

Fairleigh Dickinson (NEC), Northeastern (CAA) and Northern Kentucky (Horizon League) joined March Madness. All three won the tournament finals on Tuesday.

On Monday, Wofford # 20's improved to 29-4 by winning the SoCon bid. Iona then beat Monmouth in the MAAC final.

Earlier, Murray State defeated Belmont to win the Ohio Valley Conference finals on Saturday, becoming the first of 68 teams to secure a spot. Gardner-Webb (Great South), Bradley (MVC) and Liberty (ASUN) followed with conference crowns on Sunday.

Thirty-two teams will qualify for March Madness with automatic offers by winning their conference tournament. The other 36 will hear their names called from the big pool on Sunday of the selection. We are tracking all of these automated auctions and will update this article as tournament materials enter and each team earns a place in the NCAA Tournament.

The remaining conference tournaments go through the selection on Sunday, March 17, until the selection show.

NCAA Tournament Selection Event: Time, Dates, Schedule

NCAA Tournament: Automatic bids and the first four

Eight teams will play in Dayton, Ohio, as part of the First Four. The four lowest-ranked automatic qualifying teams and the last four outstanding teams will play Tuesday, March 19 and Wednesday, March 20 to complete the group of 64.

The 32 automatic auctions will come from conference tournaments. The Ivy League started playing a conference tournament in 2017, when Princeton won. Penn won the title a year ago.
