The new Acer Predator Triton 300 is a low budget gaming laptop

Most consumers buy laptops nowadays, but many gaming notebooks might as well be desktops as they are impractical to carry. This is understandable when gaming laptops have to crowd into many high-end components. However, the new Acer Predator Triton 300 takes a different approach. This gaming laptop weighs only 2.3 kg and has enough power to satisfy the average player.

Although this can be rightly described as an "entry-level" gaming laptop, it's definitely more powerful than your classic laptop. The Triton 300 contains a 15.6-inch 1080p LCD screen with a refresh rate of 144Hz. Whether or not you see all these extra images in the games will depend on what you play. The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 video card will not ignite the world, but it is a GPU capable of playing for a laptop.

The Acer Predator Triton 300 is also equipped with Intel Core i7 processors of the latest generation and 16 GB of RAM in the base model. On the storage side, the notebook comes with two 1 TB SSDs as standard. Because the drives are RAID 0, both drives act as one large disk. This makes them faster, but there is no fault tolerance or redundancy. You can also upgrade it to 2TB.

The Predator Triton 300 is thinner and lighter than most gaming laptops and its price is not obscene. Compromise: mid-range specifications for a game setup.

The entire chassis is less than 20mm thick, which is impressive for a laptop with a high-end processor and a dedicated video. It is thick enough to accommodate a full Ethernet port, but support for Wi-Fi 6 is also supported. As it is a gaming laptop, Acer has taken steps to give it the impression. There is a full keyboard (with keypad) with RGB backlight. The WASD keys are also concave to help you position your hand for games. To type, it seems that it would be rather unpleasant. The rest of the design is not as well extreme. The lid has a beveled edge and unnecessarily angled angles. There are also unnecessary hoods on the rear vents.

The Predator Triton 300 will be launched in Europe this fall for 1,300 euros (about 1,434 dollars). Acer has not yet committed to launch it in the United States. However, US states will have the improved Triton 500, which now displays a 300 Hz screen. This laptop starts at $ 2,699 (almost $ 3,000).
