Chipotle announced Tuesday a new menu in its American restaurants for the first time in 2019, and customers can have it delivered for free on Sunday in September.
The new menu item calls "carne asada" and consists of a sliced steak and seasoned with lime, coriander and spices. The new protein option will join the menu, chicken, steak, barbacoa and carnitas. Chorizo was added to Chipotle's menu in 2018.
Chipotle's Carne Asada has been officially approved for the Whole30 program and is on a Paleo diet, said Chipotle.
Carne Asada has been successfully tested in Fresno, California and Cincinnati before being rolled out across the country.
"He's done incredibly well in the test markets and we're thrilled to launch this great new steak all over the country for a limited time," said Chris Brandt, Chipotle's Marketing Director.
Chipotle said that customers can get free carne asada on Sundays this month.
