Devin McCourty will play in 2019 after all.

At the opening night of the Super Bowl, McCourty said it was possible his last game, but nearly three weeks later, he announced his intention to return.

"I will play" he said on the Sports Spectrum podcast. "I think it was cool at this point to find myself here and see – I think you're so excited about the season and then it was media night and when Deion [Sanders] I told myself that and I thought, "Yeah, man, if you win the Super Bowl, I do not know what else could beat it."

"At that time, I think I forgot to not play this game just to win Super Bowls. There are so many things coming from me playing the game that I like a lot." you're like, 'Yeah dude, I still want to be around these other young guys coming in.'

McCourty, who turns 32 next August, is in the final year of his contract and has a base salary of $ 9 million with a cap of $ 13.4 million. He seems to be a candidate for restructuring.

His twin brother, Jason, will be a free agent, but he is certainly returning to New England, especially with Devin confirming his return.
