The new IKEA GUNRID curtains filter the air of your home

The air purifiers date from 2018. This week, IKEA announced that its new range of curtains will include purifying superpowers.

While details about the product, called GUNRID, are limited, the company says the blinds are covered with a film essentially imitating photosynthesis, filtering odors and pollutants like formaldehyde when they are activated by the light.

Lena Pripp-Kovac, head of sustainable development at the company, added that IKEA hoped that the curtains would encourage more people to worry about air pollution in homes, which , according to the World Health Organization, kills 4 million people each year.

One amazing thing about GUNRID is that they can be activated naturally and artificial light, they will continue to work at night and on cloudy days. IKEA anticipates that the technology, which is still in the testing phase, will one day also be used to make other household textiles.

Although the curtains of the future do not arrive in your big blue bag before 2020, you do not have to wait to clean the air quality of your home.
