Earlier this week, Nintendo unveiled a new Nintendo Switch model with an OLED display. At the time, many considered this to be the long-standing Nintendo Switch Pro, but apparently it isn’t. According to new reports, a more powerful Nintendo Switch, the Nintendo Switch Pro, is still in the works and will be the upgrade with the 4K games Nintendo fans were hoping for before the new OLED model was revealed. It’s unclear why this model has yet to be revealed, but it has reignited speculation that overtook the Nintendo community last year and has dominated much of Nintendo talk ever since.
A report comes from the path of industry insider and leaker Jeff Grubb, who recently took to Twitter and hinted that the Nintendo Switch OLED model is not the Nintendo Switch Pro, which is due out as early as this year. next. Grubb also pointed out that the OLED model is unlikely to be the last Switch console just because Nintendo is the king of revisions.
“I have only personally heard 2022 for a Switch Pro yet. And if that happens again, I will continue to speculate that it will have 4K output with a significantly more efficient chip with DLSS,” said Grubb. “Does anyone think this is the company’s last Switch that released six 3DS models?”
Unfortunately, this is where the report ends. From the sounds this Nintendo Switch console will be less overhauled and more upgraded, but it also looks like it might not be quite a suitable successor, or in other words, the Nintendo Switch 2. That said, if Grubb provides further clarification, we’ll be sure to update the story accordingly.
As for Nintendo, they haven’t commented on any of this, and they hardly ever comment on rumors, reports, leaks or anything speculative and unofficial. We don’t anticipate this change, but if it does, we’ll make sure to give the old story the update as well.
