The new ROCKETMAN trailer is better than BOHEMIAN

Bohemian Rhapsody Next week, some of them are totally inexplicable, and Rami Malek will certainly be the best actor for his role in Freddie Mercury. The film has performed exceptionally well at the box office, whatever you think of the film. The perfect timing for a new trailer on the other Gay rock star who made himself known in the 70s and who still enjoys today a lasting adulation: Rocketman, aka the story of Elton John.

Given RhapsodyThe current status of, one of the RocketmanThe most interesting elements are its director, Dexter Fletcher, who was the guy who was brought in to take over, without being credited, after Bryan Singer was fired from this film. Fletcher essentially worked on a cleaning job on this movie, hired because it had to remain invisible and uncredited on the screen. His other work, however, aside from a long-time acting career, includes making the ski jump movie incredibly enjoyable. Eddie the Eagle, featuring KingsmanThat's Taron Egerton. This team of directors / actors has come together and you can see it yourself in the trailer below:

Obviously, a lot of familiar biopic music beats (as parodied in Walking hard, and reviewed in the last YouTube video of my friend Patrick H. Willems) are here. You have your beat "convincing the records", the beat "origin of the stage name", the "dreaming of childhood" beat, the beat "huge triumphant concert", the beat "drugged with alcohol and to drugs ", etc. sure. But where Rocketman seems to stray (a little) from the formula is in his notes of surrealism and fantasy: throughout the trailer are pieces of visual images subjective and colorful – a bit like ChicagoThe stylized monologue internal musical numbers – which you do not get in most of these movies. There are dance numbers! They look great, and I hope that they are used generously to give Rocketman the flamboyant edge Rhapsody desperately missed.

Egerton seems to be singing himself, while Malek was dubbed with Mercury recordings, which made Bohemian Rhapsody – and its final in particular – the most expensive episode in the history of Lip Sync Battle. And that baseball bat moment at the end is a perfect representation of the transition between a person and an artist that happens every time you go on stage.

Listen, I love Elton John as a musician, I like Dexter Fletcher as a director and I love Taron Egerton as an actor. So I choose to remain optimistic about this film until the inevitability of the law of biopic music proves me the opposite.
