The tensions between Vanity Fair and the New York Times have not diminished over the weekend, but the battle is expected to fly by the Oscars next year, we are told.
On Friday, Vanity Fair revoked the Times' invitation to its Oscar-winning evening after the Gray Lady published a critical article about bash.
Insiders thought that Vanity Fair's editor-in-chief, Radhika Jones, could step in and revive the invitation. She does not have any.
We were told that there was no one from The Times to cover the party, although spies said columnist Maureen Dowd was seen as a guest.
His reporter Ben Widdicombe, who planned to cover the party as well as the Ballon des Gouverneurs, ended up covering only the latter.
But one source said that this did not mean that they would not be welcome in the future.
Insiders told Page Six that there was still next year and that this year's non-invitation was by no means a ban. The representatives did not comment.
The Times had broken the title of Condé Nast with a scathing story titled "It was the hottest Oscar night. What Happened? ", Said the Vanity Fair party had lost its mojo by partly recruiting too many sponsors for the event and by post-game competition like Jay-Z.
