The next big thing about Tesla is … a Cuphead port?

After the March announcement that the game of retro-stylized hard-as-nails platforms Copper came to the Nintendo Switch, we wondered what platform could be next to see a port. Whether it's iOS or PS4 or Linux or Google's next Stadia, this seemed at least plausible.

However, we did not think about the Tesla car range as the next Copper port platform. And yet here we are, listening to Elon Musk announce during a podcast interview this week that Copper "works" on the touch screen of the car's center console.

Maja Moldenhauer of Copper The MDHR Studio developer has confirmed the work on IGN's limited port to Ryan McCaffrey, pointing out that Tesla was only asking for the game to "play super, super clean" on the car's internal hardware. For this reason, the game will only work by connecting a wired USB controller rather than allowing commands directly on the touchscreen itself (or with the Tesla steering wheel buttons). And before you ask, the car must be in the park to play, a move that probably makes Tesla's lawyers very happy.

Copper On a Tesla, the surprise is not total, because Musk launched the call for the development of games for cars about 10 months ago. Since then, Tesla has launched and developed a set of classic Atari games playable on the center console, and Musk has tweeted about the efforts to carry the Unity engine and Unreal Engine to the included computer platform of the car.

Nevertheless, Tesla Tegra's central touch screens do not seem to have been designed for gaming. As Musk notes on the podcast, "You have to choose the game you want to play, then download it … if you want to play other games, you have to delete this one and download another one." This limited storage space means that only the first level of Copper, Inkwell Isle One, will be available in the Tesla version, according to Moldenhauer.

In any case, work on gaming ports like Copper Tesla continues to solve some life-threatening problems in the car's autopilot system.
