At least one Detroit Tiger is in perfect form, with the team having no designated hitter in this weekend's games against the New York Mets.

It would be about starting pitcher Gregory Soto, who recorded his first career shot, a single left, at the second round of the goalkeeper leaving the Mets, Noah Syndegaard, Friday night. (And yes, they kept the ball for Soto.No Pujols situation here.)

Soto would return to score two goals later on the JaCoby Jones circuit.

Soto was not satisfied with a sudden. The rookie, bleached because the NL rules did not allow a designated hitter, was again excluded from Syndegaard on his next appearance, leading to the fourth inning. No points scored this time, however; Soto was removed from the fight later in a fight between first and second base.

Soto now has as many hits this season – two – as teammate Dawel Lugo and two more than league player Mikie Mahtook, who was sent to Triple-A Toledo in April after opening the season to 0 for 23.

Soto, who led the way in saving the Tigers' assaulted starting rotation, was on his fourth major league start. He only allowed one point in the first three innings of early Friday, as the Tigers took a 4-1 lead, but the situation quickly turned south. The Mets scored four points this round to regain the lead. Soto, at least, has scratched his counterpart, Syndergaard. He was the last hitter Soto had to face in the tough heat. Last line of Soto: 3 2/3 innings, five earned runs, four strikeouts.

The rookie also left the game with an average of 1,000 batting, 1,000 base and 1,000 slugging. He is the first starting pitcher of the Tigers with two hits in a match since Justin Verlander did it. against the San Diego Padres on April 12, 2014.

It's unclear whether Soto will be the DH when the Tigers return to the American League baseball field on Monday.
