The next Pixel 3 Lite phones from Google are likely to go through the FCC

Just like the Pixel 3 and 3 XL that preceded them, Google's upcoming Pixel phones, less expensive and so-called "lite", have been the subject of intense leaks in recent months. We know what they look like, what are the hardware specifications and even saw examples of cameras. who would not to be excited about getting the best camera on the market by the Pixel 3 in a more affordable device? But the release date (and price) of these phones is still a mystery: Google has nothing to announce at Mobile World Congress this week, we may consider a launch in the spring or even later. Android font indicated that they would be available at Verizon this spring.

Several recent FCC filings are the latest example showing that things are changing and that we are getting closer to an exit. They do not contain a lot of details, but the confidential repositories are almost certainly the Pixel 3 and 3 XL Lite. (There was no indication that this is actually their name, for the record.) There are eight in all, but if you consider the different colors, storage capacities, and sizes proposed by Google, always in the end talk about just two products. Tellingly, their model numbers are identical to those of previous Pixel phones, and one of the filed documents says they will be using Android 9 Pie.

Google has requested that the filed documents remain confidential until August 24, 2019, which is well before the usual material event in the fall of the company, in October. So yes, it is likely that these devices will be marketed over the next few months instead of joining a future Pixel 4.

The Pixel 3 and 3 XL Lite will have a plastic case whose general design is similar to that of the two current flagship products from Google. They will be powered by less powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. They also give up the dual selfie camera system and the two front speakers. But they find the headphone jack for the first time since the release of the Pixel 2 and should offer a camera with images close to or at the standard 3 and 3 XL. We saw a lot of Pixel 3 Lite, but not so much the XL variant: the renderings suggested that it would not have a cut.

Google has updated the 3 and 3 XL in recent months; they currently benefit from a $ 200 discount in the company's store. It will be interesting to see exactly where Google ends up fixing the price of these phones. $ 600? $ 700? Less? Let's hope we hear about it a lot more soon.
