The next Valorant agent is Astra, the space star

Valorant’s current act is coming to an end, and Riot has revealed what to expect from the next one. Episode 2 Act 2 begins on March 2, introducing a brand new character with some very interesting abilities. Astra is a controller that enters a strange space realm to place stars that it can use to activate various abilities. I think she has one of the best designs for a Valorant character we’ve ever seen, and her kit looks very different from anything the game has so far.

“Ghanaian agent Astra harnesses the energies of the cosmos to reshape the battlefields at will,” reads his character’s biography. “With complete mastery of her astral form and a knack for deep strategic forethought, she is always one step ahead of her enemy’s next move.”

Astra’s abilities all revolve around placing stars on the map, which she can then spawn with different abilities. His C skill creates a gravity sink, sucking up enemies and applying the vulnerable status effect when it explodes. His Q is called Nova Pulse and concentrates the players who are caught up in it. Then her ability E is Nebula, a smoke that looks like a pretty purple and golden galaxy.

His ultimate, however, is probably the most interesting of the bunch. It allows Astra to place a wall that crosses the entire map, blocking sight and bullets, and heavily damping audio. It sounds pretty powerful and it will be interesting to see how players use it. It honestly sounds a little scary to me, I rely so heavily on the audio in Valorant – please don’t take it away from me.

“With Astra, we wanted to create a controller that thinks of the whole map. Its global presence was there from the start,” game designer Jordan Anton said in a press release. “We wanted its expression of competence to be to gather information and turn it into a blueprint, where the execution phase is less about precisely targeting a grenade throw and more about seeing if your reading on the enemy goes like that. you hoped.

Astra debuts at Valorant on March 2, followed by a new battle pass for Act 2 the next day.
