Despite being largely the same car as before, Nissan never fails to find a way to make these huge, fast beasts even faster.
Nissan introduced the GT-R's Track Edition in 2016 with adaptive shocks, race-inspired aerodynamics and a stiffer, lighter chassis, but it was equipped with the GT-R's base power 562 horses. This year, the track edition will be equipped with the NISMO engine, which can accommodate 600 horses. There is also an optional new carbon fiber roof and optional new carbon ceramic brakes (in sizes of 16.1 "at the front and 15.3" at the rear !! !) to reduce the weight of a few extra pounds, although Nissan does not specify how much.
The GT-R NISMO, shown here on the beautiful rain pictures, has no extra power, but it retains the same 600. The engine receives a pair of newly designed turbochargers directly from the GT-R GT3 race car that are meant to spool faster, but provide the same level of boost.
Where the Track Edition is supposed to be lightweight, the NISMO propels this spirit to the next level with carbon bumpers, fenders, roof, bonnet, rocker covers, trunk lid and fenders . In total, the new carbon parts reduce the weight of the NISMO by 23 pounds. The weight of additional parts in the car was reduced by 44 pounds, eliminating a total weight of 67 pounds from the 2019 version.
The new RAYS aluminum wheels are part of this set of weight loss because they would be stiffer and lighter than before. These wheels contain a new Dunlop tire for NISMO, which has increased the contact area by 11% thanks to fewer and wider blocks of rubber and a wider overall tread pattern.
Nissan has also updated the suspension lineup and the 6-speed dual-clutch transmission, updated the titanium exhaust and enlarged the car's brake discs.
Most uninitiated will never be able to tell the difference between a Nissan GT-R NISMO 2019 and 2020, but the easiest way to find out is also the coolest part. The new front fenders are equipped with carbon scallop shells to evacuate the air under the front of the car, which increases the supports.
Prices have not been announced yet, but Nissan is charging $ 128,540 for the current runway edition and $ 175,540 for NISMO. Deliveries will begin this summer.
