The Bears signed veteran tackle T.J. Clemmings and Tommy Doles, an unprepared rookie guard on Friday.

Clemmings, 27, has played in 41 games in the NFL with 32 starts in four seasons with the Vikings (2015-16), Redskins (2017) and Raiders (2018).

Selected by Minnesota in the fourth round of the 2015 Pittsburgh draft, Clemmings started the 16 games as a rookie at the right tackle. He was part of an offensive line that helped Adrian Peterson lead the NFL with 1,485 yards rushing.

Clemmings played 15 games with 14 starts against the Vikings in 2016 after veteran Matt Kalil was placed on the injured list on September 21st.

Minnesota dropped out of Clemmings in the 2017 final cuts and has been on injured reserves for the past two seasons – with the Redskins in 2017 after playing six games with two starts and with the Raiders last year after participating in four competitions.

With the Bears, Clemmings will likely be competing for the swing tackling position with Rashaad Coward and other players behind starters Charles Leno Jr. and Bobby Massie. Last year, the role was filled by Bradley Sowell, who was moved from tackle to tight end of season.
