Well, it didn’t take long. Just two days after its third beta, a stable version of OxygenOS 11 is ready for the OnePlus 6 and 6T. It’s been a long road for both of these devices – Android 11 is almost a year old – but if you hold your breath for an update, you can finally time out.

Yes, this update is long overdue, and even given OnePlus’ recently revised software policy, this is likely the last major operating system change that either device will receive. Depending on how you feel about the OxygenOS 11 redesign, it’s going on a high note. This update includes all of the features that originally came in Android 11 last year, which you should review if you need a quick refresher. Google’s 2020 version brought improved security and privacy capabilities, along with its sophisticated chat tools for easier messaging.

OnePlus has also incorporated its own improvements to OxygenOS 11, including a permanent dark mode shortcut in Quick Settings, new UIs for the Shelf and Camera apps, and Game Space to help control notifications during intense gaming moments. Ambient Display also benefits from a few new modes, including a wired skin and clock style created in partnership with Parsons School of Design, which could help add a touch of style to your phone.

It is not clear if any of the fixes from Monday’s Beta 3 patch, including YouTube playback improvements and some memory management changes, are included in this stable release. At the very least, last month’s fixes from the second beta should come in.

If you’ve been waiting for the OnePlus beta, it’s finally time to shine. The OTA is coming to a limited number of users starting today, with a large release expected in a few days, barring any invisible bugs. Unlike some of the OnePlus updates in the past, this push isn’t limited to a specific region, so you’ll have to be patient if your phone isn’t selected today. After all, what’s the harm in a few more days of waiting? You can check out the full list of patch notes on the OnePlus Forums.
