The OnePlus smartwatch arrives on March 23

We’ve known the OnePlus smartwatch for what seems like ages, but the wait for its release is finally almost over.

OnePlus posted a teaser on its Twitter account, confirming that it will launch the product on March 23. The teaser video shows some comments from the OnePlus community calling for its release with the caption “You asked for it. You got it”

The teaser also shows some glimpses of the watch itself.

It looks like we have a round face and a textured strap. But anything else is just speculation at this point.

It’s also likely to be running Wear OS – although that is also unconfirmed.

In an interview with Input Mag last year, CEO Pete Lau confirmed the existence of a OnePlus smartwatch and discussed the company’s work with Google.

“Wear OS certainly has room for improvement. What we’re trying to do is work with Google to try to improve the connectivity between the Wear OS ecosystem, Android TV and Android smartphones to create this capacity for better interoperability of devices in ecosystems ”, did he declare.

“This was viewed very positively from the Google side as well, so this is the direction we are trying to develop, but we don’t have more than we can share on this at the moment.”

The OnePlus smartwatch was first rumored in 2014, but the project was shelved as interest in smartwatches cooled. Now the market is hot again, with smartphone makers like Oppo, Xiaomi, and Huawei all making headway.

Huawei has managed to become the second largest smartwatch maker by global shipments – and given that the Apple Watch has a 50% market share but can only be used by iOS devices, there is still a lot of market left. to win.

We’ll bring you all the details on March 23.
