During his address at Moffett Nathanson Media & Communications Summitt in New York, Disney General Manager Robert Iger spoke about the limitations of virtual reality technology and its place in Disney theme parks. According to his comments, it does not seem that his presence is important.
Instead, the parks will focus on physically recreating places for their various lands and attractions. "We are not trying to simulate an immersion. We try to make it as real as possible with as much scale as possible, "Iger told the Los Angeles Times.

Many theme parks have started using virtual reality technology to create more immersive experiences. This includes projecting images in front of runners and using 3D glasses or VR goggles to complete the illusion. Some rides like this one are already in Disney parks, like Avatar Flight of Passage in Disney World, but do not expect them to become the norm.
Instead, it seems that Disney is focusing on fully built terrain, such as the new Star Wars pitches open at Disney World and Disneyland. These areas create totally immersive experiences including rides, attractions and even a Star Wars themed cantina.

"The Wow factor is way above what you could get with virtual reality," Iger said.
