When the UGA will host the Arkansas State in the third game of the season, the visiting team will likely be without its head coach.
The state of Arkansas announced Monday that US football head coach Blake Anderson was taking a leave to end up with his wife, who is battling cancer.
Wendy Anderson was diagnosed with stage 4 triple-negative breast cancer in 2017 and the family said in March that cancer had spread to the liver, lungs and lymph nodes, according to CBSSports.com, Barrett Sallee .
Arkansas State Sports Director Terry Mohair issued a statement Monday:
"Coach Anderson decided to take a break during this difficult time to find his wife, Wendy, and his family. We will continue to pray for the peace of his family and provide assistance by all means. "
Arkansas State Defense Coordinator David Duggan will be the team's head coach until Anderson decides to return.
UGA will play against Arkansas State at noon on September 14th.
