The Wild Card playoff round just ended and it showed just how strong the AFC is, especially in the North Division. Two of the Bengals’ rivals have moved on to the divisional round, as Cincinnati continues to heal and rebuild for the 2021 season.
Part of this process is to hire assistant coaches under the guidance of Zac Taylor. The Bengals have been engaged in this endeavor over the past week, including the return of a much-loved former assistant to Frank Pollack.
John and Anthony discuss these moves and Joe Burrow’s recent media encounter. The duo are also arguing the merits of particular strategies in the upcoming draft and No. 5 pick, as well as driving their first mock project of the offseason.
This week:
- What kind of impact will Frank Pollack have as the offensive line coach and, perhaps more importantly, as the team’s match coordinator?
- Troy Walters was a natural fit for promotion to wide receivers coach – for a number of reasons.
- Andre Carter appears to be a promising candidate for the defensive line coach position for the Bengals. He recently interviewed for the concert.
- Joe Burrow returned to Cincinnati for the first time since completing his knee surgery and met with the media. John and Anthony review several of the sound clips.
- In our first ‘State Your Case’ segment, John laid out why Brandon Scherff was the best free agency for the Bengals this offseason, if they chase one or the other.
- The first OBI simulation project of 2021 was carried out on the episode. We went with just three picks and you might be surprised at who was available when the Bengals were on the clock in the Pro Football Network Draft Simulator.
