The Overkill's Walking Dead officially canceled for console – Game Rant

Last month, the publisher Starbreeze Studios announced that the console version of Overkill's The Walking Dead postponed indefinitely due to the poor performance of the PC version of the game. Since then, the possibility of launching the game on the PS4 and Xbox One has become more and more unlikely over time.

Several days ago, contradictory reports revealed online that the console version of the game had apparently been canceled. This was quickly challenged by Starbreeze Studios, claiming that the console version of Overkill's The Walking Dead is not canceled but is "purely postponed as long as the development is in progress". Now, Skybound Entertainment, the owner of The dead who walk license, puts an end to the question by revealing that Overkill's The Walking Dead is now officially canceled for consoles and support for the PC version of the game will be discontinued.

Skybound's statement revealed that she had worked hard with Starbreeze Studios to solve the plethora of problems encountered in Overkill's The Walking Dead. Unfortunately, Starbreeze was not able to provide a "quality" product because the game did not meet Skybound Entertainment's standards. Skybound is currently looking for alternative developers to provide an adequate video game to The dead who walk franchise.

"We are extremely sorry for our fans and share their disappointment with the match. We remain committed to providing our fans with the highest quality content possible, and we will continue to look for other options for intellectual property. "

While the poor performance on the PC and the eventual cancellation of the game on other platforms may seem surprising, some developers, old or current, Starbreeze already knew that Overkill's The Walking Dead was doomed from the start. Employees revealed that mismanagement on the part of the design team was the main factor in the appeal of the game to the public it was trying to reach.

Given the closure of Telltale Games (the developer of another series of The dead who walk games) last year, and now the cancellation of Overkill's The Walking DeadIt will be interesting to see how Skybound and its future partner will be able to get rid of the bad reputation of previous games based on the famous zombie franchise. For now, we still do not know if Skybound Entertainment already has in mind the developers to support the production of a real video game based on The dead who walk.
