The Patriots have reportedly formed six, including former Bears wide receiver Javon Wims

The New England Patriots formed six free agents on Tuesday, including former Chicago Bears wide receiver Javon Wims, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

Wims, 27, landed with Chicago in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The Georgian product will appear in 33 games and make seven starts from there. His stay brought in 28 receptions for 266 yards with two touchdowns. Wims played 811 offensive snaps during that span before being called off by the Bears ahead of the league deadline in August.

In addition to Wims, New England are said to have trained quarterback Anthony Gordon, wide receiver Jaylen Smith, as well as defensive backs Kentrell Brice, Shakur Brown and Grant Haley.

Gordon, 24, was not drafted in Washington state last year after throwing for 5,579 yards with 48 touchdowns and 16 interceptions as a senior redshirt. The second-team selection All-Pac-12 has been a member of the Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs since then.

Smith, 24, signed with the Baltimore Ravens as a rookie free agent in 2019. The former Louisville extended player was also entered by the Seahawks and Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.

Brice, 27, stopped over with the Bears, Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Arizona Cardinals after being undrafted from Louisiana Tech in 2016. The security veteran’s career has also counted with the Seattle Dragons of the XFL and the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL. Brice recorded 100 tackles, one sack and one interception in 36 NFL games.

Brown, 22, agreed to terms with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a rookie free agent after the April draft. The 2020 Michigan State All-Big Ten first-team pick began in September with the Kansas City practice squad.

Haley, 25, spent two seasons with the New York Giants after arriving as an undrafted free agent in 2018. The cornerback via Penn State spent the last campaign with the New Orleans Saints in as part of the training team and as an elevation. In 25 games and 12 starts, Haley recorded 82 tackles, one sack and one interception.
