The Philadelphia Attorney has proposed to the police by shooting to make a suspect

The highest prosecutor in Philadelphia said that he had offered the suspect an armed man during a police clash aimed at making him surrender during a deadlock of several hours.

Attorney General Larry Krasner told the Philadelphia Inquirer He met with the suspect Maurice Hill to convince him to surrender after six police officers were shot dead and two others jailed on Wednesday in a house. The suspect wanted to know how many years of jail he could suffer.

"At first, I said 25 [years]then he said 20 and I said OK, "said Krasner.

Hill, 36, insisted that the agreement be written, and Krasner said that he had written a rough draft but had not finished it.

"We have to be clear here: it was bullshit from the start," Krasner said.

Some have argued that Krasner's actions could be problematic as the case progresses, especially if he is called to testify.

"We find that when we overestimate or deceive the person, she tends to turn against us," said Gary Noesner, retired chief of the FBI's crisis bargaining unit. " [or] as if you were just trying to tell them what they want to hear. What ends up convincing people to surrender is that they feel that you are honest and forthright with them. "

Hill's lawyer, Shaka M. Johnson, also participated in the appeal and defended Krasner's tactics.

"When [Hill] started talking about things that those of us who knew in the area knew that nothing could happen, [Krasner] did not thwart the negotiations by stopping it immediately, nor did he promise anything that could not ultimately be done, "Johnson said. "But he allowed this man, in his mind, to keep things in play so that he could get out of there."

Hill was charged on Saturday with several counts of attempted murder, aggravated assault, common assault and weapons offenses.

"These charges are more than enough for Maurice Hill to never get out of jail," Krasner said Saturday.
