The suspect accused of firing six police officers during a long battle in Philadelphia received a bogus contract from the city's prosecutor – who said it was about "bulls —" from the beginning.
Maurice Hill, 36, was reported to have fired an AR-15 rifle at police officers who were serving a drug warrant on Wednesday, officials said. The situation went wrong "almost immediately" and six officers were finally injured.

Hill faces several counts of attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault against a law enforcement officer and reckless endangerment related to the shooting.
About 4 ½ hours after 7 1/2 hours of confrontation, Hill was apparently curious about what sentence he could be sentenced to a jail sentence if he was encouraged to surrender.

District Attorney Larry Krasner said that when he initially announced to Hill that he was facing a 25-year prison sentence, Hill tried to negotiate and "declared 20" what Krasner agreed.
"We have to be clear here: they are bulls – from the beginning," Krasner told The Philadelphia Inquirer, calling the deal "bogus can."
Krasner said Hill had asked for the agreement in writing – what the prosecutor said he started, but never finished. He stated that the suspect's lawyer was in favor of the fictitious agreement.
Investigators said Hill shot more than 100 shots and surrendered when police opened tear gas. Nobody died nor was injured during the attack.
Hill has an extensive criminal record that includes multiple arrests in Philadelphia and nearby Delaware County between 2001 and 2012, according to the online archive. His criminal convictions include assault, perjury, escape and escape, escape and weapons offenses.

He made three stays in state prisons, one of them coming for breach of probation. He was also sentenced to 55 months in federal prison for a double conviction for possession of firearms.
The suspect allegedly used a semi-automatic rifle and a handgun during the shooting. Authorities said that he should not have been allowed to legally obtain because of his criminal record.
