Google is revealing more of its Material You interface design for Wear OS and also brings a significant upgrade to the experience of installing the app and watch face from your phone.
Watch owners are encouraged to search the new Wear OS and Watch Faces for Wear OS category pages on the Play Store and are encouraged to add the words “Watch” or “Watch faces” to searches for compatible apps.
Users will be able to install an app for their selected Wear OS device directly from the phone by tapping an overflow button above the Install button.
And here’s a look at the Play Store with the new Material You design language on Wear OS. In addition to the revised appearance, Google says it is redirecting the URL and in-app purchase triggers to your phone.
These changes have already been applied to some devices, but expect them to arrive on your phone and Wear OS 2.x devices over the next few weeks before a big v3.0 reboot this summer.
From your phone to your wrist, the new features of @Google play and #WearOSbyGoogle are coming soon. 👀
