The Pokémon Company appears to be gearing up to impose the law (again) with what has been described as yet another wave of bans.

According to Serebii.net, the naughty users of Pokemon Sword and Shield and HOME Pokémon are the targets – some gamers being warned to use ‘modified data’ while others cause problems by tampering with the functions of games and applications to other users.

Players who are caught with modified save data will be banned from using trading features and will no longer have access to HOME. It follows an agreement in the conditions of use prohibiting the modification of the backup data.

The data save change, for example, might include adding Pokémon to the game that you haven’t actually caught.

Bans can be temporary or permanent, and The Pokémon Company plans to follow the same course of action in the future. It will also put more measures in place if necessary.

It’s not the first time we’ve done something like this either. It was previously prohibited for players who deliberately disconnected from online battles.

Has your own experience in Sword, Shield, or HOME been affected by someone with changed save data? Tell us below.
