Remember that the Porsche Panamera Turbo prototype that we caught last week with what appeared to be an aerodynamic kit? Well, we have another puzzle for you. The same prototype was spotted on the Nürburgring circuit, but this time it was missing the ducks on the front bumper and hugging the road with minimal ground clearance.
By far, the biggest change can be seen at the rear, where the prototype does not have Turbo's cornering exhaust finishers. Instead, the current exhaust system with its quad tubes is obviously longer than the one we are used to and oriented towards the road. It probably means that Porsche was testing a modified engine. Our sources told us that the "Über-Panamera" would get 820 horsepower from an improved configuration of an existing engine.
The 820 represents a huge power, especially considering the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid which has to be satisfied with "only" 670 hp. The eventual electrification of the latter will not be known at the moment, but engineers would have confirmed a shock of 150 hp compared to the current flagship variant while he was talking to spy photographers.
According to rumors, the jewel of the range, with a power of 820 horsepower, is expected to land at some point in 2020 with the redesigned Panamera range. Expect low productions and an exorbitant price, which could easily exceed the $ 186,200 sticker of the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. This version has all the ingredients to please the record of the Nürburgring four-door, which is currently challenged by the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 and Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S four-door but only two seats.
The mid-cycle refresh could include not only a hardcore iteration, but also some two-door body-style derivatives evoking the spirit of the 928 coupe and the unique concept of the 928 convertible.
