The Rangers share the fan favorite, Mats Zuccarello, with the selection of the selection

The New York Rangers traded their favorite fans, Mats Zuccarello, to the Dallas Stars on Saturday, the teams announced, ending the Norwegian winger's nine-year term.

  The Stars earned a talented winger for the playoffs, while the Rangers added more to their war chest. We note the two GMs.

In exchange, New York receives two choices of conditional projects: a second choice in 2019 and a third choice in 2020.

The second round becomes a first-round pick if the stars qualify for the third round of the playoffs and Zuccarello plays at least 50% of the team's accumulated games in the first two rounds. The third round becomes the first round if Zuccarello signs with Dallas this summer, while he is on the verge of becoming an unrestricted free agent.

The Rangers thanked "Zucc" in an emotional tweet on Saturday night:

Zuccarello, 31, has 11 goals and 26 assists in 46 games this season, warming up after a slow start. The winger has 352 points in 509 career games, imposing himself as a tenacious offensive force for the Rangers, who signed him as a free agent in May 2010.

Zuccarello was not part of the Rangers youth movement, and the end of his four-year contract with a cap of $ 4.5 million meant the end of his Broadway race. The Rangers retained 30% of his salary in the transaction.

The Stars, who hold the first Wild Card of the Western Conference, record the third worst offense in the NHL this season with 2.51 goals per game.

"You're going to pay a premium at this time of year, it's a fact we all know," Stars general manager Jim Nill told the Dallas News before the deal. "That's what we have to weigh in. Is the cost of acquisition worthwhile for what we are trying to achieve?"

This was the second movement of the Stars, following the acquisition of New Jersey Devils defenseman Ben Lovejoy in exchange for defenseman Connor Carrick and a third round pick in the 2019 NHL draft.
