In the past 10 years before Amber Portwood in front of the MTV cameras, the star of "Teen Mom" has faced many accusations of crimes, ranging from domestic drama to neglect of her children, to her latest the most serious recklessness – with a lethal weapon (a machete, in particular).
As the court proceedings progress, the cable television network has not yet issued an official statement. But MTV mainly supported Portwood and other "Teen Mom" stars throughout their tumultuous legal journey: Portwood was charged with "domestic battery" and child negligence in 2010, which would have motivated its fights in front of the camera with his old partner. In 2012, she also served approximately 17 months in prison on a drug charge.
After these incidents, Portwood was able to resume her role in the series, in which she spoke about her difficulties with bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder. But this latest accusation is different: Portwood could be found guilty of putting Glennon and his son at risk of reckless risk.
In recent months, the network has shown no mercy to its annoying co-stars. In May, MTV abruptly broke ties with former "Teen Mom 2" star Jenelle Evans after her husband, David Eason, reportedly shot his dog for attacking their 2-year-old daughter. (Eason was fired in February 2018 for posting derogatory tweets about gays and transgender people.)
Although Evans eventually defended her husband's actions, MTV said she had "no plans to cover her story in the coming season." Evans also has a history of arrests and court battles, some of which were filmed in camera: last July, the 27-year-old woman's network TV video grabbing at the wheel of an aggressive pistol his 8 year old son was sitting in the passenger's seat.
No arrests have been made, but the seriousness of Evans' actions indicates how willing the producers in the series are to tolerate star behaviors, usually with minimal interference.
"Teen Mom OG" is now in its eighth season and "Teen Mom 2" is in its ninth. But the interpersonal drama that is playing on the screen is only a small part of the latest titles of the franchise, the most shocking. Reality viewers are clamoring for entertainment, and show producers tend to focus more on specific scenarios. The "Teen Mom" star, Maci Bookout, recently complained that her family life is not accurately portrayed on the show this season.
Recently, however, his most dramatic – and most questionable – scenes have not been filmed. In January, Evans had used the platform of the series to clarify rumors that her husband, Eason, had assaulted her, after a 911 call in October had resulted in her hospitalization. Meanwhile, Portwood remained under the radar, avoiding the filming of the "Teen Mom" season meeting this weekend in New York.
