ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins released another bombshell revelation on Friday, saying he knew what really happened behind the scenes of the Rockets’ James Harden-Russell Westbrook split ahead of the start of the 2020 campaign. -2021.

According to the retired NBA player, it was The Beard’s non-stop party throughout the season that ticked Westbrook and led to his trade request after just a year with the Houston Rockets.

Perk provided the juicy details on James Posey’s Posecast (via Alex Kennedy of BasketballNews). Here’s the full clip:

James Harden’s lifestyle off the pitch, of course, has long been documented for most of his career. While what he does in his spare time is purely his business, it becomes problematic to do it when an NBA season is underway. Russell Westbrook, on the other hand, is a formidable contender.

As far as Perkins is concerned, Brodie was taken aback by the way Harden likes to handle things in H-Town. The Westbrook-Harden reunion last year had its highlights and the Rockets still finished fourth in the West (44-28) despite the alleged turmoil between the two superstars. But Houston crashed and burned in the second round of the 2020 playoffs against future champions Los Angeles Lakers.

Westbrook has since transferred to the Washington Wizards for John Wall. A few months later, Harden’s wish to join the Brooklyn Nets starting squad also came true. It is futile to look back now at how good the two former MVPs would have been with the Rockets had they given another chance this year. Still, this Harden-Westbrook duo was fun while it lasted.
